FAMILY PHYSICIANS

Providing comprehensive health care for your family. We pride ourselves on being patient-centric and try and deal with each patient as if they were our own family. Having been operating for more than 30 years, we have built up a reputation of being caring and empathetic, and enjoy being part of the close-knit community of Waterfall and surrounds.

We have seen newly borns growing up to have young families of their own and enjoy the long-standing relationships we have with our patients.

Dr Duffey is fully accredited to assess and treat Sleep Apnea.

He is passionate about providing preventative care and health education to his patients.

Dr Dave Cumming is a Wits graduate and has been a GP for 17 years.

He enjoys all aspects of Family Medicine, but has a special interest in ADHD Management and in Diabetes, and is a part of the CDE Network.

I enjoy all aspects of family practice, but being a mom of two, I have a soft spot for the kiddies that I see. I love being part of this community and making my patients healthier and happier.

I obtained my medical degree at the University of Pretoria. After completing my internship and community service at McCord and Hlabisa Hospitals, we moved to Cape Town where I was a medical officer at Red Cross Children’s Hospital and Groote Schuur Neonatal Unit. Once back in KZN, I started working at Linkhills Medical Centre in 2015.

Dr Bernha Van De Merwe

I'm Dr. van der Merwe, an enthusiastic general practitioner who loves taking care of families.

My interests cover a wide range of medical needs, but I have a special interest in women's health and weight loss. I'm here to provide empathetic support and evidence-based guidance, whether it's routine check-ups or embarking on a healthier lifestyle. Your well-being is my priority, and I'm excited to partner with you on your health journey.

I graduated from Stellenbosch University in 2016, did my internship at King Edward Hospital and finished my journey in the public sector at Inanda C community health centre. The next few years I worked as a general practitioner at Medicross in the Bluff before finding our forever house in Assagay. I’ve been part of the Link Hills family since February 2023 and plan on making this my home.

Dr AMANDA ZONDO

FAMILY PHYSICIAN

Dr Zondo has been with the practice since 2022 and has made a big impression on everyone she
meets! She completed her internship at George Mukhari Academic Hospital and community service
at Untunjambili Hospital and spent some time at King Edward Hospital in the paediatric department.

She has a passion for the young ones and their families and has recently started doing IV Vitamin
Drips at Link Hills. She also has an interest in addressing mental health concerns. In her free time, Dr.
Amanda Zondo enjoys listening to music and watching movies.

Dr CARRIE GRINAKER

FAMILY PHYSICIAN

Born and bred local, Dr Grinaker was raised in Hillcrest and went of to study at the University of
Pretoria and graduated in 2014.
Dr Grinaker enjoys emergency medicine but at the same time, gives her major frustration, it's a real
love-hate relationship! She was mostly doing emergency medicine until she had her baby in January
2023.

She decided that family is more important than late night emergency shifts. That’s when we
had the privilege of Dr Grinaker joining our practice! She loves meeting new people and embracing
the challenges of GP work. She is also interested in aesthetic medicine and bringing something new
to the practice. So keep your eyes peeled for that in the future!

Dr RICHARD GIBSON

FAMILY PHYSICIAN

Dr Gibson studied at the University of Pretoria and since then has worked in a variety of fields at
Stanger Hospital and in Ceres in the Cape. He has spent time at Link Hills before and then moved into
Orthopedics at Port Shepstone Hospital.

He enjoyed the work in Orthopedics, but missed the people, which led him back into family
medicine. Solving cases and getting to have long-term relationships with patients is what he enjoys.
His passion also lies with sport and treatment relating to sports injuries. His time in orthopedics has
given him invaluable experience in this field.

Outside of work and medicine you'll find him somewhere outdoors! Fishing, hiking and birding are a
favourite for Dr Gibson. Other than that, quality time with family, friends and their precious dog Ellie
are most important to him.

Caro is a registered Nursing Sister (General Nursing, Community, Psychiatry and Midwifery) who has 30 years experience of which the last 20 years being at Link Hills Medical Centre.

Nurse Sandy Holden

Sandi trained at the JHB General Hospital in the 80's in General Nursing and has been enjoying working at Link Hills Medical Centre since August 2018.

Nurse Nikita Soman

NIKITA SOMAN

NURSING SISTER

Nikita Soman, graduated from Wits University and has been working in the private sector for the last 4 years in various fields but spent her most time in the Neonatal ICU, looking after the premature babies.

Nikita has a special interest in women's health and we welcome her experience and expertise! In her off time, she enjoys spending time in nature and loves to go on all kinds of hiking adventures!
