Her passion is working with children, in particular children with Low Muscle Tone (LMT), which is a condition of idiopathic or unknown origin. A child is born with LMT and may present with any of the following symptoms: balance problems, deficient eye-hand co-ordination, gross and fine motor problems, postural deviations and general clumsiness.

Secondary manifestations are reduced concentration, scholastic difficulties and socio-emotional manifestations. If correctly managed, the symptoms are completely reversible.

Physiotherapeutic management of LMT involves a careful examination in order to make an accurate diagnosis.

Pam has written a book and completed her master’s degree in research on Low Muscle Tone, for the Parent, Teacher and Therapist, which provides a step by step guide on how the diagnosis of LMT is made. The Physiotherapeutic management of this condition is fully discussed, and exercise plans are included. The book is written in a manner that can easily be understood by the Parent, the Teacher or the Medical Professional.

The cost of the book is R100.00 + R20.00 for postage. Books may be ordered via e-mail or by making contact with the practice, details are as follows:
